The Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (IMMC) campus, comprising six buildings—including the Main Hospital, Wilton Building, Dental Center, Cancer Center, Barr Tower, and Center for Education—required a comprehensive inventory of all Asbestos-Containing Material (ACM) due to numerous facility renovations and additions over the years. To ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations and to manage ACM safely, SPC was engaged to conduct a detailed asbestos inspection and develop an Asbestos Management Plan for the campus.
SPC's scope of services included reviewing existing asbestos inspection reports and asbestos abatement project reports, collecting information on building demolition and construction, and inspecting all accessible areas of each building to identify suspect ACM lacking existing information. Additionally, SPC developed the Asbestos Operations & Maintenance program for the campus buildings.
SPC created a set of procedures for asbestos work, detailing training requirements, a medical program, a respirator program, the chain of command, chain of custody, and approval parameters for all asbestos-related activities within the buildings. This meticulous approach ensured that all ACMs were identified, documented, and managed safely, providing IMMC with a comprehensive plan to maintain compliance and protect the health and safety of building occupants.
