Cook County Health Multi-Campus Environmental Assessment and Planning
Specialty Consultants, Inc. (SPC) collaborated closely with Cook County Health leadership to conduct extensive environmental assessments across multiple facilities, including the Oak Forest Health Center Campus, Cook County Health Administration Building, Cook County Department of Public Health in Forest Park, Logan Square Health Center, and Provident Hospital. These assessments are crucial in the county's strategic planning for asset disposition, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and addressing any identified deficiencies or concerns.
The project's foundation is the Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) reports, conducted in accordance with ASTM E1527-13 procedures. These reports comprehensively identified environmental concerns, leveraging data from sources like Environmental Data Resources, Inc. (EDR) and FOIA responses from government agencies. The findings informed the Phase II ESA, which delved deeper into environmental conditions, particularly focusing on potential redevelopment areas.
SPC's responsibilities extended to subsurface investigations for active and removed underground storage tanks (USTs) across various facilities. Despite challenging weather conditions, SPC's sampling activities remained robust to prevent project delays. Close coordination with County internal teams ensured seamless project execution without disrupting facility operations. Through assessments and strategic planning, SPC contributed to Cook County Health's efforts in environmental stewardship and facility management.
