An employee of Specialty Consulting, Inc. (SPC) spearheaded a crucial project focused on managing a test survey to determine the sources and locations of black powder along various points along the pipeline. Their responsibilities encompassed designing and modifying an EPA Method 17 sampling apparatus to suit the project's specific requirements. They also set up a network of test points and led the field execution, ensuring accurate sample collection and recovery of sample filters on-site.
Some unique challenges included equipment malfunction and degradation due to the buildup of black powder. The challenge was overcome by maintaining open communication with the client and several other stakeholders to address these issues promptly and effectively, ensuring the smooth progression of the survey.
Despite the challenges encountered, the project was completed successfully and provided a comprehensive summary report. The report included all results, findings, procedures, protocols, and discussions on data quality and validation.
