Specialty Consulting, Inc. (SPC) was engaged by View, Inc. to deliver structural engineering expertise for the design of the structural framing system of a skylight situated above the Admirals Club at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. The Admirals Club, a premium lounge offered by American Airlines, required a replacement of the club skylight to ensure safety and aesthetic appeal.
SPC dispatched a team of architects and engineers to evaluate the technical soundness of the existing skylight and devise a comprehensive replacement plan. Following a thorough investigation, SPC provided the primary consultant with crucial materials to facilitate further project remediation. These materials encompassed detailed structural drawings, precise calculations, and stringent specifications.
SPC's responsibilities on this project included conducting site visits, visual inspections, and in-depth studies during the pre-design, demolition, and final stages. One of the unique challenges of this project was maintaining the structural integrity and safety of the lounge while minimizing disruptions to the airport's operations. SPC's approach involved meticulous planning and phased execution to address these constraints effectively. The solution emphasized collaboration and precision, ensuring that the new skylight met all safety standards and aesthetic requirements without compromising the lounge's functionality.
