The project consisted of design and construction of a covered pedestrian bridge spanning 100 ft. over Cicero Avenue near 157th Street in Oak Forest, Illinois. The overpass was built by Metra to facilitate pedestrian traffic crossing Cicero Avenue towards the commuter train station.
The structural components of bridge structure consisted of two 100-ft. long steel varendeel trusses supported on concrete piers located on each side of Cicero Avenue. It was designed as a 3-D space frame and the entire bridge structure was assembled on the ground and installed onto the piers within a period of 12 hours. The overpass was provided with window-like openings and a pitched shingle roof.
