Specialty Consulting, Inc. was retained by Old Veteran Construction (OVC) and Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBCC) to conduct a pre-demolition hazardous material building survey at the Malcolm X College building. The scope of work also included development of the abatement design documents and providing oversight during the abatement activities.
The purpose of this survey was to identify suspect asbestos-containing material (ACM), Lead-based Paint (LBP), and Universal waste containing building materials that may need abatement and/or disposal prior to planned demolition of this 500,000 square feet facility. Abatement drawings and specifications were developed by IDPH licensed lead and asbestos professionals. Abatement oversight was conducted for over more than 6 months, including weekends.
